W3 Professorship „Integrated Photonic Systems“

This Professorship is associated with the head of the Institute of Electrical and Optical Communications Engineering and is intended to represent the topic area of Integrated Photonic Systems in research and teaching. Potential candidates have to provide an internationally recognized track record in the field of Integrated Photonic Systems and their applications. Candidates have to prove their activities in several of the teaching and research areas listed below:

  • Optical communications engineering
  • Photonic processors and repeaters
  • Technologies for coherent optical transmission
  • Integrated photonic circuits
  • Optical waveguide systems
  • Opto-electronic interfaces

The future post holder is expected to participate in and contribute to the teaching in the Bachelor and Master programs of the department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology in the topics mentioned above - as well as in other study programs of the University of Stuttgart. Additionally, this professorship shall offer the basic modules „Schaltungstechnik I und II“ in German language. Active acquisition of public and industrial third-party funding, and participation in collaborative research projects of the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology as well as the University, and especially in the Clusters of Excellence, is expected (e.g., IQST, SCoPE and GRK2642). The person looked for should have several years of successful experience in industry or in industry-related research institutions.
