The professorship represents the area of physical electronics in research and education. The appointed professor is also the director of the Institute for Photovoltaics.
In academic education the professorship is contributing to the degree programmes „Elektrotechnik und Informationstechnik“, „Erneuerbare Energien“ and „Elektromobilität“, as well as to the English international Master degrees such as „Information Technology“. In particular, it is expected that the appointee upholds the existing lecture portfolio in the area of photovoltaics, which is an integral part of numerous degree programmes of our university. The continuation of internal cooperations in research and education is expected.
Research at the institute is dedicated to fundamental problems of physical electronics and their transfer into applications. We are seeking the application of personalities of scientific excellence, with comprehensive expertise in at least two of the following areas and certified didactic qualifications:
- Semiconductor Devices for Opto-Electronics and Photonics
- Photovoltaic Device and Module Technologies
- Ressource-Efficient Semiconductor Processes
- Device Technologies for Energy Storage Systems
- Technologies for Devices and Systems in Bio-Medical Applications
- MEMS Technologies
- Silicon-based Mounting and Integration Techniques
- Related Open Topics
In these research areas the acquisition of third-party funding is expected. A significant professional background from industrial or applied research is welcome. The appointee is expected to get involved in the faculty’s academic self-administration tasks. The institute has a comprehensive cleanroom infrastructure among its research facilities and participates in the planned Research and Education Cluster for Micro-, Nano- and Opto-Electronics in the department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.
