You are a newly enrolled international student, preparing your arrival to Stuttgart for the upcoming summer semester 2026?
The university’s International Office is your first point of contact at the University of Stuttgart. It offers numerous activities and helpful pre-departure information to assist you in preparing your stay in Stuttgart as best as possible. The following Orientation Program is especially organized for newly enrolled international degree-seeking students of our English taught Masters’ programs at the university. Make sure to attend!
Orientation Program for students starting their studies in April 2026:
Formalities in a nutshell: In these 1h-seminars, we will inform you about the formalities you need to do shortly before and after coming to Germany.
1. Formalities in a nutshell I (health insurance, enrollment, student ID): Tuesday, March 3, 2:00 pm CET
2. Formalities in a nutshell II (arrival, accommodation, public transport, radio tax): Friday, March 6, 11:00 am CET
3. Formalities in a nutshell III (city registration, residence permit, bank account): Tuesday, March 17, 2:00 pm CET
4. Living in Stuttgart for Newbies: Thursday, March 19, 2:00 pm CET - How to make the most out of your student life and how to spend your free time in Stuttgart? We will also discuss topics of everyday-life in Germany, such as the health care system, housing rules, getting around safely and more.
5. Studying in Stuttgart for Newbies: Thursday, March 26, 2:00 pm CET - Topics: Basics of the German University system such as the structure of courses, your rights as a student and support options during your studies. We will not talk about the course registration or teach you how to create your timetable. For this information, please visit the events offered by your study program itself.
6. Welcome Days for new international students at the International Office (IO) (on campus): Wednesday, April 1, 10:00 am-4:00 pm - Meet student advisors and other newbies, join a campus tour, buy a ticket for excursions and last but not least: get rid of your questions and concerns! More details will follow. Important: Arriving already at the beginning of March 2026? Welcome Day for early birds on Monday, March 2, 2026, 10:00 am-4:00 pm
Welcome Days Venue: International Centre, Pfaffenwaldring 60, Stuttgart-Vaihingen (public transportation stop: Universität + a 10 mins walk), no registration required.
7. Online session: “How to find a side-job”: Monday, April 27, 5:00 pm.
Registration: Please register for each info session via the IO website. The latest on the day of the event, you receive the link to access the online-meetings by e-mail. All sessions will take place online on Webex (except the Welcome Days).
