Preparations

Here you will find tips on what to do before studies start in October

Pre-courses

The MINT-Kolleg offers several preparatory courses at the University of Stuttgart. For first-year students in the Bachelor's program in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, participation in a mathematics pre-course is recommended. For those first-year students who have little or no experience in programming, participation in the MINT-Kolleg's preliminary course in Computer Science is also strongly recommended.

The physics and mathematics pre-course usually take place in Stuttgart-Stadtmitte. The Pre-course in Computer Science (for electrical and information engineers) takes place in Stuttgart-Vaihingen (Pfaffenwaldring 47) in the first week.

BAFöG

It is recommended to apply for BAFöG immediately after admission or registration. If the application is approved, BAföG is available from the month in which the training at the university begins, but at the earliest at the beginning of the month in which the application is submitted. A short application is sufficient to meet the deadline.

Apartment search

You can apply for a appartment for students as soon as you have officially applied for your studies. Most of the lectures and courses in the Bachelor's program in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology take place in Stuttgart-Vaihingen (Pfaffenwaldring 47). The S-Bahn stop "Universität" is easily accessible by public transport, so that you can also take this into account when looking for accommodation. Please also note that you must re-register within two weeks after moving in.
