While the event "Inventing the Future–University of Stuttgart meets Bosch" on October 24, 2022 presented current cutting-edge research at the Vaihingen campus, professors from Faculties 5, 6 and 7 were already discussing future challenges and solutions in the background. Together with representatives from Bosch and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology (IPT), they met in Arena2036 on October 25, 2022. There, various workshops focused on topics including "Intelligent Robotics for a Circular Economy", "Simulation Science" and "Quantum Technology". The Department of Computer Science was represented by Professors Marco Aiello (IAAS), Steffen Becker (ISTE) and Prof. Mathias Niepert (MLS).

Prof. Becker, head of the Software Quality and Architecture department at the Institute of Software Engineering, reports: "We discussed in particular the extent to which software will have to explain itself in the future. This is a critical issue for robots–after all, the machines are not supposed to act arbitrarily, but to perform meaningful and comprehensible actions.
