A short overview over the study program
The Bachelor of Science Softwate Engineering is designed for six semesters. The first three semesters form the basic studies, the last three semesters are used for specialization. The degree programme is divided into compulsory and elective areas, and within the elective areas priorities can be set individually.
The first time hurdle in the Bachelor's program is the orientation examination. This exam must have been passed by the end of the 3rd semester, lastest.
The maximum period of study for this course is 12 semesters.
During the first two years of the bachelor’s program, the focus is on learning the fundamentals of software engineering. This includes mathematics and theoretical foundations of computer science as well. In the third year, students can broaden their knowledge gained in previous courses by taking elective courses, seminars, and projects on advanced topics in software engineering. Via projects, teamwork is an important and deliberately emphasized component of the program. By participating in concrete, practical work, students are expected to get familiar with the typical situations they will encounter in their future careers while still studying, and to graduate with a particularly strong qualification for careers in software development and engineering. Most graduates do indeed choose this professional field and then have a good chance of quickly advancing to positions such as project manager or similar roles.
The Software Engineering program places particular emphasis on software-related topics. There are some projects, the scope of which gradually increases until culminating in a major course project worth 18 ECTS credits. In general, Software Engineering places significantly greater emphasis on the design aspect — and thus the practical application of computer science — than the other programs in the department.

Courses
The courses of all degree programmes are stored in the C@mpus system - separated by degree program and examination regulations. Please note that not every course is offered in every semester. Good planning of your studies is therefore essential. A non-binding list for the winter semester 2025/26 can be found here for
