Das Exzellenzcluster "Daten-integrierte Simulationswissenschaft zielt angesichts der vielen Daten, die heute aus verschiedenen Quellen zur Verfügung stehen, auf eine neue Klasse von Modellierungs-und Berechnungsmethoden, die die Anwendbarkeit und Genauigkeit von Simulationen sowie die Verlässlichkeit der darauf basierenden Entscheidungen auf eine neue Stufe heben.

Das Exzellenzcluster "Integratives computerbasiertes Planen und Bauen für die Architektur" setzt auf das volle Potential digitaler Technologien, um das Planen und Bauen neu zu denken und durch einen systematischen, ganzheitlichen und integrativen computerbasierten Ansatz wegweisende Innovationen für das Bauschaffen zu ermöglichen.
Leuchtturm-Projekt: "Künstliche Intelligenz und Quantencomputing: Das Beste aus beiden Welten"
Künstliche Intelligenz und Quantencomputing verbinden und sie für innovative Anwendungen in kleineren und mittleren Unternehmen (KMU) erschließen: Das sind die Ziele des neuen Projekts „PlanQK: Plattform und Ökosystem für Quanten-unterstützte Künstliche Intelligenz“. Es hat ein Volumen von 19 Millionen Euro und wird durch das Bundesministerium für Wirtschaft und Energie im Rahmen des „KI-Innovationswettbewerbs“ mit 11 Millionen Euro gefördert. An dem Konsortium aus Forschungs- und Industriepartnern sind die Forschungsgruppen von Prof. Frank Leymann (Institut für Architektur von Anwendungssystemen) und Prof. Stefanie Barz (Institut für Funktionelle Materie und Quantentechnologien) der Universität Stuttgart führend beteiligt.

Aus Fehlern lernen: Wie künstliche Intelligenz hilft Software zuverlässiger zu machen
Michael Pradel, neu berufener Professor für Programmiersprachen am Institut für Softwaretechnologie, erhält einen ERC Starting Grant für sein Forschungsprojekt „Learning to Find Software Bugs“. Das European Research Council (ERC) wird seine Forschungsarbeit in den kommenden fünf Jahren mit 1,5 Mio. Euro fördern.
ERC Starting Grant "Anticipatory Human-Computer Interaction"
Wie kann die Zusammenarbeit zwischen Mensch und Computer verbessert werden? Können Computer menschenähnlicher inter- und auf ihre Nutzer reagieren? Kann sich ein Computer proaktiv auf seinen Benutzer einstellen, kann er sich der Persönlichkeit oder Individualität, dem Lernverhalten oder der Aufmerksamkeit seiner Benutzer anpassen, gar zum Assistenten werden? Kann er beispielsweise Lerninhalte an die Aufmerksamkeit des Nutzers anpassen und dem Nutzer helfen, seine Aufmerksamkeit auf bestimmte Dinge zu lenken?
Diese Fragen versucht das neue Projekt um Prof. Bulling zu klären.
