When writing scientific papers like a master's thesis, it is important to observe certain rules and formalities, such as the proper choice of words and style, responsible use of sources, etc. At the same time, it is necessary to structure and formulate the complex content in a comprehensible way. International master's students of Faculty 5 learn how to do all this in the workshop "Jumpstart Your Master's Thesis (C1 Level)", which will be offered in the upcoming winter semester 2021/22.
What are the contents of the workshop?
- structuring and writing an academic paper in English, including an abstract, methods and literature review
- general academic skills: referencing and citing works, plagiarism, compiling a bibliography etc.
- course-related and technically oriented academic communication
- practice to develop students’ power of expression both orally and in writing in an academic setting
Who can attend? Master's students of M.Sc. Computational Linguistics, M.Sc. Computer Science and M.Sc. Electrical Engineering who are at least in the 2nd semester
When do the workshops take place? One workshop always takes place on Tuesdays (Group 3), another on Thursdays (Group 4) – both days from 9.00 to 10.30 am. You can find the respective timetables in C@MPUS.
